The Penn State Department of History and the George and Ann Richards Civil War Era Center are seeking applications for an Assistant or Associate Research Professor to be the center’s next Associate Director.
The position is non-tenure-track, limited-term, and full-time in the Department of History. The first term is three years, but there is high possibility for renewal. The start date is July 1st and materials are due May 10th. Qualified applicants will have a PhD in history and focus on the long Civil War Era (roughly 1830s-1890s). Candidates whose research aligns with our interests in slavery, abolition, and emancipation are especially welcome.
As we start this job search, we also want to offer huge congratulations to current Associate Director Emma Teitelman, who has accepted a position at McGill University. We thank her for everything she has done for the center and wish her the best as she starts this next chapter!
