Meet Eva Blackenhorn, Richards Center Gettysburg National Military Park Summer Intern

From the Gettysburg National Military Park for Teachers, Students, and Families – Get to know the new faces you will be seeing around Gettysburg National Military Park this summer with our Meet the Intern feature! Over the next few weeks, our summer intern team will post short biographies of themselves along with descriptions of their programs and career aspirations.

Hi everyone! I’m Eva Blankenhorn, an interpretive intern here at Gettysburg National Military Park this summer, and a rising junior at Penn State University where I am majoring in Recreation, Park, and Tourism Management and minoring in History!
Working at Gettysburg this summer has been nothing short of an absolute dream. The battlefield has always been, and will always be one of my favorite places. When I first visited with my family just three short years ago, I never could have imagined the profound effect these hallowed grounds would have on the rest of my life! You may catch me in the Soldiers’ National Cemetery giving a program focused on the casualties of the battle that extend beyond the cemetery gates, behind the Information Desk at the Visitors Center, or assisting with one of our “Join the Army” children’s programs. I also discuss the role women played following the Battle of Gettysburg, and highlight the story of Cornelia Hancock during my Mystery History Guest program! There are so many stories to tell, and sacrifices to remember, and I’m so thankful to be a small part of the incredible team that keeps them alive! I hope to see you all out on the battlefield this summer!
