Snyder Featured in Research Penn State Magazine

McCabe Greer Professor of the American Civil War Era Christina Snyder is featured in the latest issue of Research Penn State magazine. Dr. Snyder was interviewed about her award-winning book, Great Crossings: Indians, Settlers, and Slaves in the Age of Jackson. The book recounts the unique story of the Choctaw Academy in Great Crossings, Kentucky. The antebellum school was founded as a multi-ethnic community and an experiment in building a more inclusive community and nation. The story of Choctaw Academy is a microcosm of the disparate visions of the nation's future that were hotly contested in the antebellum era. You can download Dr. Snyder's interview here.
